Data for Impact (D4I) has conducted an assessment of the Zimbabwe Assistance Program in Malaria (ZAPIM)—an implementing partner of the United States President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI)/Zimbabwe. ZAPIM supports the capacity of the National Malaria Control Programme (NMCP) to prevent and treat malaria and work toward the NMCP’s 2016–2020 Strategic Plan goals, which includes both malaria control and elimination.

D4I’s assessment used quantitative methods to analyze existing routine and other secondary data sources, and used qualitative methods to identify strengths and areas to improve in NMCP’s current capacity to manage and implement malaria interventions. Results will guide PMI/Zimbabwe and the USAID mission to make decisions on appropriate strategies to strengthen NMCP capacity and to choose interventions best suited for PMI support as the country moves toward malaria elimination.
